Khartoum- The activities of the 11th session of the Executive Council and the 9th Conference of Speakers of member states of Inter-parliament Union of IGAD kick off at the
Friendship Hall in Khartoum next Saturday.
The opening session of the three-day conference will be addressed by Speaker of the National Legislature Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer with the attendance of parliamentary speakers of participating countries, concerned ministers and ambassadors of member states.
The meetings of the conference would discuss a number of issues that concern the member states of Inter-parliament Union of IGAD, including the security situation in the region, climatic change and its impacts on the area and illegal migration.
The membership of the union comprises besides Sudan each of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Uganda, Eritrea, Somalia and South Sudan.
It is to be noted that Sudan had hosted the fifth conference of the union in January 2015, when it was elected secretary general of the union.
