Authorities Round up 254 Foreign Beggars
Khartoum – Khartoum State authorities have rounded up 254 foreign beggars to be repatriated to their countries, Ministry of Guidance and Social Development has revealed.
Khartoum State Cabinet said federal and state authorities should agree on a plan to minimize begging by deporting beggars and preventing their return. The Cabinet also directed for special police unit to combat begging and homelessness.
Regarding a social solution for the begging phenomenon, the Cabinet indicated that foreign beggars, 302 males and 16 females, were gathered in special accommodations. Sudanese beggars, 913, are being trained to do national service-related jobs with a reasonable salary.
