African Parliamentary Conference Wraps up Sessions, Issues Recommendations

Khartoum – Speakers of African Parliaments meeting in South Africa have wrapped up their conference and issued final recommendations. Sudan participated in the conference with a delegation headed by Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmed Ibrahim Al Tahir.

Participants discussed role of African Parliaments in promoting trade among African nations and the recommendations urged support to ongoing efforts to amend the protocol of establishment of the African Parliament to empower it to harmonize legislations in African. The recommendations also stressed the need to overcome trade and customs barriers, called on African Parliaments to facilitate movement of capitals, improve livelihood of citizens and achieve food security. The recommendations urged governments to devise policies supportive of trade and economic integration.
