Replant of Genetically Modified Cotton in Gezira and Halfa Projects

Khartoum - The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed the success of cultivation of genetically modified cotton in a number of agricultural projects, pointing to its efforts to take advantage of the rain this year for the success of the agricultural season, indicating to planting 300 000 acres of cotton crop in rain areas and 200 thousand acres in irrigated projects.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed, in a press statement yesterday, the success of genetically modified cotton in many projects, especially Rahad and Suki projects, attributing lack of success of the crop in the Gezira Scheme and Halfa for not preparing land for cultivation, where rain caused the sinking of the crop, where it was grown again, revealing the introduction of new technologies in the field of cotton in partnership with Brazil.
