Radio for Children in Northern Darfur

El Fashir - Ministry of Social Affairs in Northern Darfur State announced the establishment of a radio station dedicated to children in both Arabic and English and local dialects, in coordination with the Department of Child Protection of  UNAMID.
Ministry and UNAMID aim, through this radio, to activate the concept of the voice of children for peace in Darfur.
Director General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr. Al-Fatih Sulaiman Abdullah said that the radio would be a means of education and a forum to entertain the children, along with contributing to the achievement of social peace in the region.
He pointed out that the UNAMID Division of Communications and Information is the sponsor for the broadcast and editorial control for all content produced for the project, adding that the radio has the right to consult with other broadcasters and United Nations Radio when needed.
Dr. Abdullah revealed that UNAMID has ensured the provision of all technical and logistics aids, and training, while the ministry is to provide cadres and materials will be provided in coordination with the competent authorities, while UNICEF is contributing as well.
He announced a planned visit during the next phase to Liberia and Sire Leon to stand on their experience in this area, praising the efforts which have been undertaken by UNAMID in order to bring peace to Darfur and the enforcement of development projects and early recovery, praising the efforts of UNICEF, voluntary organizations and civil society organizations.
