Council of Ministers Reviews Report on Assessment of Program for Disposal of Public Sector Facilities

Khartoum - The Council of Ministers reviewed in its regular meeting, chaired by First Vice President Ali Osman Taha, Thursday a report on assessment of the program of disposal from public sector facilities during the period 1990 - 2010, which was presented by the State Minister for Finance Abdul-Rahman Dirar.

The spokesman of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Omer Mohamed Saleh, said in press statement that the report highlighted on the goals of privatization that include increasing the production via mobilization of the unexploited energies by the private sector.
He said that the program witnessed privatization of 93 facilities during the past 20 years, pointing out that the losses of these facilities have exceeded 960 million pounds per year.
He said that the direct revenues of the privatizations reached more than 840 million pounds, besides other indirect revenues.
He said that the number of those who were employed in the new institutions after the privatizations exceeded 67.000 employees.
Dr. Saleh said that the Council of Ministers has affirmed the commitment of the state to the privatization process as a method to run the micro economy in the country through paving the way for private sector.
