Native Administration Efforts Underway in North Darfur
Native administration in Northern Darfur has made great efforts to make Northern Darfur a model of peaceful coexistence, especially since the state has not seen a bloody tribal conflict, except for some normal differences that resolved quickly.
The north-east area is the best model, which includes the areas of Mellit, Al-Malha and Koma, and three major native administrations, Al-Midob Al-Berti and Ziyadia.
Chief Adam Amara Adam Tamim told (Sudan Vision) that they are as native administrations initiated and admitted that the war in Darfur led to the strain of relationship between the tribes, where the said administrations in those areas felt the need to remove the problems between the tribes, pointing out that they are, as Berti took the initiative with Ziadiya tribe, where they met in Sari area , where they made coordination and agreement on solutions, adding that the leaders of Ziadiya sat with Al-Midob, where they agreed with each other, while a joint committee was formed from the said three tribes, which coincided with the coming of FAO and workshop on peace that held in the city of Mellit.
He added that the workshop recommended native administrations to develop peace initiative between the tribes in that area, where FAO welcomed and adopted the idea, where they prepared a memorandum of understanding submitted to Khartoum, where the organization made it clear that a legal body must be formed to deal with it directly, where there was the birth of (Al-Damalij charity organization for reconciliation and development), where that organization convened reconciliation and peaceful coexistence conference in the north-east area, where the conference was attended by commissioners of Mellit, Al-Maliha and Al-Koma, who have praised the idea.
Chief Tamim added that all the issues and documents were discussed at the conference, while all parties acknowledged to abide by all the recommendations of the conference, indicating that a committee was formed from the tribes of the area that includes Zaghawa, Al-Jalabah, Beni Omran and Fur present there, in addition to Fellata in order to determine the prices of cattle and sheep in the markets, emphasizing that the said conference has found welcome from all tribes and organizations, pointing out that FAO has supported the organization of agricultural equipment, seeds and sheep through agricultural credit program.
Tamim said that Northern Darfur governor praised the move, calling to present the program to all parts of the state, as it entered the confidence to all the tribes in the said area.
Many of native administrations said that one of the main factors that helped the organization in achieving its objectives, is the seriousness in the implementation process.
