Parliamentary Committee Chair Criticizes Surge of Food Prices
Khartoum - Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Legislative Council, Dr. Ahmed Dollah criticized the hike of food prices, especially tomatoes.
He indicated the presence of sufficient agricultural area of about 600 thousand acres, besides water supply and electrification of agricultural projects, pointing out that the boycott announced by the Consumer Protection Association is not the solution, stressing that the solution lies in abundance and proper planning.
With respect to chicken prices, Dollah said that no justification for the increase, especially that the state supports sorghum with 110 pounds for the farm owners, calling on Khartoum State to work for bringing down these prices.
Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of Khartoum State, Engineer Azhari Khalaf Allah revealed a plan to contain high commodity prices during the month of Ramadan, by providing goods and products through the economic mechanism and sale centers.
