Taha Directs Development of Decentralized, Local Governance

Khartoum – First Vice President and Chairman of the Higher Council for Decentralized Governance Ali Osman Mohamed Taha has directed the development of experiment of the local and decentralized governance in the Sudan and assessing it in coordination with federal and state ministries prior to the introduction of the prospective constitutional amendments.

Hasabo Mohamed Abdul Rahman, Minister of Higher Council for Decentralized Governance, after a meeting with Taha said the Vice President underscored the importance of additional efforts to develop the experience of local governance to undertake its role in rendering services and achieving participation.

He said a workshop would be held during the coming days on decentralized governance to assess the experiment, adding that he briefed the FVP on the recommendations of the reconciliation committee between the Misseriya and Rizeigat and the status of implementation of reconciliation provisions between the two tribes.
