Western Darfur and World Population Day
Minister of Federal Health, Bahar Idriss Abu Garda honoured the celebrations of World Population Day in Western Darfur, under the slogan, "integration in the provision of reproductive health services is guarantee to build a happy family", in the presence of UN agencies, international organizations working in Darfur, and a large gathering of citizens of the state.
The celebration focused on the need to address the issues of reproductive health, care during pregnancy and sexually-transmitted disease control.
Abu Garda said, during his speech at the ceremony, that the state takes primary attention to primary health for its association with the problems and difficulties faced by a large number of mothers, such as early marriage and frequent pregnancies, calling for providing health services to reduce mortality, revealing a plan to reduce mortality of mothers and babies focusing on capacity building and provision of services, adding that the said plan contributed to the reduction of mortality rates in Sudan.
He called for the integration of health services in the states, calling for facilitating measures for donors and organizations that exerting a big effort in coordination with the competent agencies.
Annas Jabir believes that the women of Sudan can not contribute effectively to the development unless they have access to information and reproductive health services, while the director of primary health care, Tahani Malik Tahani indicated the weakness of primary health services, in addition to the lack of medical staff, indicating that Western Darfur state needs 94 health units and 47 health centers, adding that selection of Western Darfur for the celebration of World Population Day, with the deterioration of health experienced by the state's population, while health workers migrating from the state due to the unsuccessful policies of the health officials of the state.
