Council of Ministers Approves Five-Year Plan for the Period 2012 - 2016

Khartoum - The Council of Ministers, chaired by the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir, Thursday approved the second economic plan for the period 2012 - 2016, through a report presented by the Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih.
The spokesman of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Omer Mohamed Salih, said in a press statement that the plan was aimed to boost the national unity, elevate the freedom and democracy values, safeguard the national security, establishing wise rule and peaceful practicing of power, enhancing the foreign relations, creating a free and responsible media.
Economically, the five-year plan aims to rationalize the public spending, realizing agricultural development, realizing optimum use of the water resources, increasing the mineral production and enhancing the infrastructures in the energy and transport domains.
The five-year plan also aims bolstering institutionalism, accountability, development of the social and cultural sector, improving the educational system, applying the quality system, establishing the electronic government , reactivating the national heritage, supporting innovation and completing the major sports' infrastructures.
