Al-Sisi Calls for Uniting Efforts to Develop Health Care in

Khartoum - Head of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) Dr. Al-Tijani Al-Sisi confirmed that the national approach is the correct portal to resolve the issues of Darfur, explaining that the twinning program between the DRA and the Khartoum state Ministry of Health is the kickoff whistle for activating this partnership.
Addressing the workshop of twinning program between the DRA Ministry of Health and the Khartoum state Ministry of Health at the friendship hall yesterday he said that Darfur states have lost their infrastructure and health and service facilities due to war, calling for joining local, national, regional, and international efforts to rescue the health status. He confirmed that the DRA pays a lot of attention to the health status beginning with the return of IDPs.
He stressed that the correct way of conducting the return program is through providing health services, water, and education, commending the role played by the State of Qatar in providing model services at the IDPs' return areas.
Minister of Health of Khartoum state Professor Mamoun Humeida affirmed that realizing peace in Darfur will bring about peace for the entire country, adding that it is the responsibility of the Sudanese people.
Humeida explained that the medical surveys and statistics run in the 5 states of Darfur are considered to be the starting point for localizing medical and health care in Darfur which must be based on accurate statistics.
He affirmed that the success of the twinning program will constitute the biggest achievement of the Khartoum state ministry of health, saying that the human cadres and financial resources –however mediocre- of Khartoum state can contribute to providing aid to Darfur.
DRA minister of health Osman Albushra mentioned that the DRA is taking confident steps toward route for achieving the goal it was established for and the DRA is sure of going all the way to end of this route despite the difficulties of the beginning, overlapping threads of issues, and accumulating demands.
He confirmed that this workshop is important because it activates some of the articles of the agreement, a workshop which was born due to relentless efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health of the DRA and the Khartoum state Ministry of Health within the framework of the twinning program.
He hoped the workshop will produce a roadmap for an ambitious, scientific, and organized health project with the help of donors and support entities.
The workshop will conclude its proceedings Thursday with hopes of extracting recommendations that aim at building a comprehensive and effective health system in Darfur.
