Animal Wealth Revenues Mount to SDG 244 m in Six Months
Khartoum – Minister of Animal Wealth, Fishery and Pastures Dr. Faisal Hassan Ibrahim has stressed the importance of integration between the agricultural, industrial and animal sectors, saying revenues of animal wealth over the past six months exceeded SDG 244 millions.
Addressing workshop on animal wealth, past and future, organized by the Future Studies Centre, he said animal wealth sector would only be enhanced through the adoption of several policies including a focus on pastures which also witnessed development after their affiliation to the Ministry of Animal Wealth which distributed seeds to all States.
Dr. Faisal denied any tendency to establish a Dairy Council but confirmed a trend to set up associations as they contributed a great deal towards the development of dairy industry particularly in Hilat Kuku.
State Minister at the Ministry of Animal Wealth, Mabrook Mubarak Salim, for his part, stressed the importance of strategic planning to boost animal wealth sector, adding that the state has pinned hope on this sector to achieve development goals to sustain food security.
Salim praised the role undertaken by vet staff to ensure healthy animals, citing a promising future given the plans and programmes pursued by the Ministry.
The State Minister said the State aims at developing the animal sector as it is one of the vital non-oil exporting sectors.
