Keita in China Not just for Money
Former Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita, who has signed a lucrative two-year contract with Dalian Aerbin in the Chinese Super League, said his move was not spurred by the quest for money.
“We tried to reach an agreement with Barca but it failed, it's like that. There were fiscal issues, I’ll not go into the details here. But I'm not disappointed to leave Barca,” the 33-year-old Mali international said on Saturday.
“I didn’t choose China all for the sake of money. Football is like politics, there are many people who tell lies in the sport. It’s true I will make some money in China, but I’m not going there just for that. I'm going there to play football and make a name. “I'm still ambitious. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup are coming. I’m already 33, and this might be my last contract, so I think it’s not a bad decision for me and my fans.”
Keita spent four seasons at the Camp Nou, winning two UEFA Champions League, two UEFA Super Cup and two FIFA Club World Cup.
