Exchange Bureaus Attracted Sizable Amounts of Dollars
Khartoum - The Exchange Bureaus Association expected the Dollar-Pound exchange rates to remain stable these days.
In a statement to Sudan Vision the Head of the Exchange Bureaus Association confirmed that the Central Bank of Sudan (CBS) has responded to the association's request to confine foreign currency –Dollars in particular- supplies to Banks only to leave room for exchange bureaus to attract foreign currency from inside the country and abroad to meet the local demand.
Abdulhamid Abdulbagi added that exchange bureaus have attracted $ 330,000 from the local market and more than a Million Dollars from abroad yesterday to meet the clientele demands of foreign currency for travel, hospitalization, and study purposes.
He explained that before the recent CBS decision, hard currency dealers exercised all means of fraud, but the decision minimized the acuteness of manipulating foreign currency supplies as well as the black market.
Abdulhamid commended the decision of CBS and its response to the exchange bureaus’ request saying that attracting US Dollars will contribute towards stabilizing the market and foreign currency exchange rates.
