SRCS Develops Emergency Plan for Flooding
Khartoum - Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) organized a workshop to develop a contingency plan for flooding this year.
The said workshop comes for coordination with relevant agencies, where meteorological Department, Civil Defense, Humanitarian Commission and the Ministry of Irrigation are participated.
SRCS Secretary General, Engineer Osman Jafar explained a large number of volunteers were prepared all over the country within the preparedness project and response to disasters in the community, ensuring the need for coordination between different authorities, revealing that they seek to gain new partnerships, especially with IGAD.
Director-General of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Abdullah Khiar stressed the importance of the workshop at this time, pointing out that floods are the number one disaster in Sudan, adding that the rate of rain is excellent this year.
SRCS provides substantial assistance to citizens during various disasters, especially in the torrential rains and floods.
