Editorial :Another Developmental Edifice Emerges
President Al Bashir inaugurated yesterday day the White Nile Sugar Factory and a number of other related projects and industries.
The sugar industry is a bridge to many industries and the basis for development in developing countries
White Nile Sugar Factory would be a source of food and energy, as well as for the production of sugar, as there will be lines for animal production, ethanol and generation of electricity.
The plant would generate 104 megawatts per hour of electricity, 50% will be consumed by the plant, residential city and irrigation systems, while the other 50% will be exported to the national electricity grid, along with the production of 170 thousand tons of Molasses that help to produce 50 million liters of pure ethanol.
The plant would produce about one million tons of green fibers that packaged in bales for marketing as fodder for animals.
The liquid waste will be recycled in order to preserve the environment and benefit from it in the forestry project in supporting of the green belt project in the area and provide material for construction.
However, no project has enjoyed the integrated development goals other than the White Nile Sugar Factory and that is because this plant will increase the sugar production in the country from 750 thousand tons to 1,200 million tons besides its contribution in bringing more than nine thousand families from the poverty zone.
The project will add to the area 19 schools, seven health centres, five potable water wells, seven residential complexes to accommodate more than nine thousand families, besides the increase of irrigated area to become 165 thousand feddans.
It is the first time in the country to construct such a project without any complaints from the inhabitants of the area, and that was due to the perfect planning and the fair compensations to the affected inhabitants.
The project aims at developing the area economically and socially, besides achieving trade movement and activating the total economic cycle in the area.
The great revenue which will be achieved by the shareholders will become a model and an incentive to attract more contributions from the private sector and the foreign investors to enter into similar development projects.
Another important thing is that the project was established in one of the poorest areas in the country due to draught and the scarcity of rains.
White Nile Sugar Factory is another edifice for the Sudanese people to enjoy an abundant production of sugar.
We seize this opportunity to greet all those who contributed in transforming the dream into reality.
