Gineina Hosts Sudan's Celebration of International Population Day

Khartoum - This year Sudan celebrates the International Population Day under the slogan "Integrated Maternity Health Services Guarantee Building Happy Families" in Gineina, capital of West Darfur State on July 16th 2012. The celebration will be organized by the Maternity Health Department of the Federal Ministry of Health in Collaboration with the West Darfur State Ministry of Health and the United Nation's Population Fund.
Head of the Maternity Health Department of the Ministry of Health Sawsan Altahir said the celebration of this year is among the efforts to secure basic health services and optimizing performance by building effective partnerships with all concerned bodies. Optimizing performance is going to be through providing integrated packages that include maternity health, midwifery, delivery emergency services, pregnancy care, and spacing birth times for the benefit of mothers and children. This year's celebration also aims at raising awareness regarding securing maternity health services for all.
The celebration includes a media course in the field of maternity health, seminars, radio and television programs, exhibitions, carnivals, in addition to a blood donation campaign to minimize maternity mortality in West Darfur State.
The celebration will be attended by the federal minister of Youth, state minister of health, and the representative of the UN Population Fund in Sudan Pamela Dilarji in addition to a number of media and civil society organizations.
