NCP: Current Constitution Remains in Force until Joint Committees Finalize Work

Khartoum - National Congress Party (NCP) affirmed that no amendments would be introduced to the current Constitution, stressing that the package of reforms do not have link with current constitution.

NCP Spokesman, Professor Badr Al-Din Ahmed Ibrahim said that the current constitution will remain in force until the joint committees with political parties and forces finish discussion and submit their final reports to the competent authority.

He indicated that any government and non- governmental institutions that have been formed according to the constitution can not be changed, merged or canceled until extensive consultations with political parties that signed the Constitution are conducted, adding that the Constitution is not subject to amendment.
Ibrahim explained that the restructuring and merger announced by the government in all its institutions and ministries were in accordance with the law that formed the said institutions and not according to the National Constitution which governs the country, denying any amendments or restructuring of the party's institutions.
