SAF Reveals Details on Belendia's Assassination

Khartoum - Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said that forces belonged to the SPLA in Southern Kordofan assassinated, by shameful behavior, President of the Legislative Council of Southern Kordofan, Ibrahim Belendia Secretary-General of the Strategic Planning of the state, Dr. Faisal Bashir, Ali Matar, the former commissioner of Shikan Locality, Northern Kordofan State and other companions.

Statement issued by the Office of the SAF Spokesman, said that while the delegation, headed by the President of the Legislative Council, in an inspection visit to the agricultural season in the area of Ketin, East Al-kargel, Habila Locality, and in civilian vehicles without escort, they were intercepted by armed groups belonged to the SPLM, where it carried out the physical liquidation of all of them.

The statement said that the treacherous killing of innocent and defenseless civilians, terrorizing innocent people and displacement of citizens, remained hostile behaviors practiced by SPLM, or SPLA, or military alliances working for outside interests, originally aimed to create instability in the country.

The statement stressed that the SAF and those who stand behind them from other regular forces or the honorable Sudanese people, are able to break the backbone of the insurgency.
 
Governor of Southern Kordofan, Ahmed Mohamed Haroun said that the blood of the martyrs will not be lost in vain, but will be an incentive to make more efforts for people of South Kordofan, for their security, stability and development.

Major General Ibrahim Nail Aidam, Mohammad Markazo Kuku and Ismail Ahmed, leading figures in the Nuba Mountains condemned the treacherous attack by the SPLM remnants, which led to the death of the Speaker of the Council and his companions.
They said that this treacherous attack confirms the intransigence of the SPLM and the lack of its desire for peace, pointing out that this incident will be a motivation to the people of South Kordofan for cohesion and working together to cleanse the state of the traitors and enemies of the homeland.
Meanwhile, Thousands of mourners today participated in the funeral of six people killed by SPLA yesterday in Habilla Locality, South Kordofan, including Speaker of South Kordofan Legislative Assembly Ibrahim Balendiah and Secretary of the Council of Strategic Planning   Dr. Faisal Bashir and members of their accompanying delegation.
The martyrs were buried in a cemetery at the town of Kadugli and the funeral was led by South Kordofan Governor Ahmed Haroun and members of his government, civil society organizations, military commanders and trade unions.
