Concerted Efforts to Combat Drug Trafficking in North Darfur
El-Fashir – anti-drugs authorities in North Darfur have spared no efforts to protect the society and youth sector by working day and night in its war on narcotics, the modern disease. Concerned departments have been doing their best amid full cooperation with the personnel to ensure safe and health community free of narcotics affecting the mind.
The department has been able to discover 400 rolls of hashish, a gun, and turn in a suspect on way to El-Fashir from Diein. Last March five tons of narcotics and a gun, Kalashnikov, 50 bullets and forty suspects were turned in, in addition a vehicle; model TOYOTA Land cruiser in the locality of Tawila carrying 11 sacks of drugs. These successful operations indicate cooperation and coordination by other departments and security organs and popular defense forces in those localities as drugs department has no offices in those regions.
Observers interviewed by the paper stressed the necessity for deploying drugs squads in those regions so that the hotbeds of narcotics are dried and dealt with decisively, including farms. North Darfur constitutes a passage to neighboring countries in addition to security conditions across Darfur – generally speaking.
The observers urged local authorities to tighten measures on foreign nationals, who are believed to be importing drugs, despite the drugs squads’ ability to impose control and eradicating drugs dealing locations in Al-Mawashi market, notorious for drugs dealing operations as well as doping. Thanks to tough measures against drugs dealers, the locals are feeling secure to frequent those places, which used to be full of dealers. We are duty bound to express our appreciations to the State’s Police Commissioner, Criminal Police Commissioner and Director of Drugs Squad and its personnel for their tremendous efforts to combat drugs trafficking operations across the state.
