Abyei Joint Committee Holds its First Meeting in Abyei on Thursday
Khartoum - The meeting of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (Sudan-South Sudan) will be convened on July 5th as the first meeting of its kind after the latest talks in Addis Ababa.
In an exclusive release to SMC, the Joint head of the committee Alkhair Alfaheem Almakki said the committee would resume its meetings next Thursday to discuss the establishment of civil, executive, and legislative bodies of the Abyei Administration to fill the gap and provide services for citizens, pointing out that the government is committed to all the issues agreed upon in the last Addis Ababa agreement.
Alfaheem indicated that authorities and the Humanitarian Aid Commission are coordinating fully to preserve security and provide humanitarian assistance and technical support in the area, confirming their adherence to peaceful co-existence and forming civil institutions which are considered the first agenda of the meetings.
