Tunisian Ambassador: We Aspire Distinguished Relations with Sudan, Interview

The Sudanese-Tunisian relations witnessed inflexibility of relations during the last period particularly the economic relations, while the economic exchange and cooperation between two countries were very weak in all fields.
However after the Tunisian Revolution great remarkable efforts are exerting between the two sides to motivate and promote the cooperation relations, especially after appointing a new ambassador in Sudan.

SUNA interviewed the Tunisian Ambassador in Sudan Mr. Walled Dodash who asserted his country’s keenness to promote the bilateral relations in all fields between the two countries with a focus on future of relations between Sudan and Tunis.

Q: Your Excellency, welcome you in Sudan as the first Ambassador after Tunisian Revolution, what about your efforts to promote the economic relations between Tunis and our country?
A: Thanks, I am honoured to open new period of the Tunisian-Sudanese relations and I began my interactions with all concerned bodies, with concentration on the economical levels. Addition we convened meetings with senior officials and ministers of agriculture and trade to support and increase the commercial exchange between the two countries.
Besides, we assembled with representatives from the Sudanese Businessmen & Employers Federation and reached to the same opinion to sign agreements and to facilitate the commercial dealings between the two countries. The Ambassador remarked to the visit of the Sudanese delegation who participate in the conference of Investment, that hold recently in Tunis and added that the delegation reviewed his opinions on the methods of strengthen the investment opportunities between the Arab countries and the two countries in particular and said that the visit was successful and will push the opportunities of investment in Sudan.

Q: Excuse me, what is your information about the new law of investment?

A: I believe that the reason of weak bilateral relations in past may be due to the absence of the available information to the businessmen and investors in the two countries, that supports them to know the demands of the other side. Concern the law of investment , I am interested to know all details of the new law and according to my information the law was prepared but not issued yet .we look forward that these law will promote investment in Sudan and will encourage the investors . .

Q: Are there preparations to hold ministerial committee between the two countries particular after the revolution

A: The bilateral relations doing well we moved from the stage of rigidity of relations said the ambassador and pointed to increasable improvement in relations and the recent evidence was the visit of foreign affaires minister to Tunis, where he met the Tunisian minister of agriculture and they agreed to review the methods of accomplishing the former agreements and to adopt new visions to the relations between the two countries according to strong and stable rules.

Q: What are is the amount of commercial exchange between Tunis and Sudan before and after the Revolution?
A: The economic relations between the two countries are going forward but in past the amount of exchange was weak comparing with the huge capacities of the two countries.

Q: Are there any government partnerships or investment in Sudan?
A: We haven't official partnership but there are some Tunisian companies entered in commercial deals with Sudanese companies.

Q: What are the numbers of the Tunisian nationality in Sudan.
A: About 100 persons.

Q: Many people hope to return Tunisian Airways to Khartoum again?
A: Of course, it is so important we have made efforts in two sides and there are exerted efforts to convince the official bodies in Tunis as soon as possible.

Q: What about the Tunisian Sudanese relations after the Revolution that happened in Tunis?
A: Our relations are moving forward and we aim to promote these relations on all fields and to cooperate with our brothers in Sudan.

Q: What about the Tunisian Economy after the Revolution?
A: The Tunisian economy flourishes due to the great efforts, that the officials exerted addition to a new plan to promote our economy. Now we have stability atmospheres and we work to create more development.

Q: How is the tourism field after the Revolution?
A: Tourism suffered a bit of backward after revolution because of some factors but now the conditions became better in a rate of 50% and the tourists numbers increased gradually after achieving the stability, while the coming period will witness development and progress.

Q: What are the changes in Tunis after the revolution?
A: many changes happened in Tunis after revolution. Now we live in stability and there are improvement in the daily living conditions , but still there is problem of jobless, as there are serious efforts to accomplish the president's commitments of improving the living- conditions and to provide the right of health, education to all citizens Besides, to save the rights of women , to create the peace and political co- existence and to restore the real role of Tunisian media in the region addition to other topics, what support to achieve the progress of the country.
