Minister of Higher Education Complains of Immigration of University Lecturers

Khartoum - Prof. Ahmed Altayeb the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research revealed that his Ministry is facing the problem of continued immigration of the University teachers abroad in order to improve their living conditions. He said 180 lecturers left the country within one week and 2000 PhDs holders working outside Sudan. He said in a statement presented to the Parliament yesterday that they cannot stop the immigration of teachers from the universities of Sudan unless their living conditions are improved, adding that the grant they receive from the Ministry of Finance cover only the salaries, declaring that a number of Sudanese universities face the same problem. The Council called in yesterday Prof. Ahmed Altyeb the Minister of Higher Education to respond to the question submitted by the Parliament Member Abdullah Babikir over the annex of Abu Haraz Agricultural College which belongs to University of Gezira to the University of Butana.
The Minister has issued a decision to return Abu Haraz College to the University of Gezira.
For its part Suaad Abdelraziq the Minister of Education confirmed that its Ministry aimed at improving and promoting school environment and to work with the State to provide the annual needs of the School, and to look after girls' education targeting needy areas and provide food to increase the understanding rates, as in eastern Sudan, said that the school environment in the camps in Darfur is better than the settled areas.
On the other hand, the representatives sharply criticized the Minister of Higher and public Education. Ibrahim Hussein, member considered the promotion of education as the promotion of the State and he called for the necessity of supporting education for the advancement of Sudan. Alhadi Mohammed Ali, another member, called for looking after teacher, and increasing spending on education, which needs great efforts to be exerted noting that there is no confidence over the government education which is supposed to be revisited.
Doctor Alhibir Yousif Noeldaim has described the situation of the teacher in Sudan as worst and he called for improving the curriculum and the educational climate, and to exert great support and budgets, mentioning that some people understand the arabization in a wrong way and as a denial English language and this is not true.
In the same context, Dr. Suaad Alfatih Albadwi Member of Parliament described that Teacher, curriculum, and education preparations are the foundation of the best education, and called for issuing decision of stopping every thing and supporting education indicating that the distribution of potentials is not sound particularly in the field of education.
Meanwhile she called for the need to find out what the disciplines that are needed by the labor market and then based on this disciplines the universities can graduate their students to avoid graduation of student out side the context of the labor market
Its worth mentioning that the Council had passed the statements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the statement of the Ministry of Education.
