DRA Secretary: Action Plan Implementation Making Great Strides
El-Fashir – Secretary of Civil Society Organizations Secretariat at the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) Khalil Abdallah Adam said the Authority had made a considerable progress with regard to work stipulated in the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), especially regarding establishing its structures like ministries, commissions and secretariats of ministries.
Adam, who is also the Minister of Social Affairs in North Darfur, told SUNA that was achieved due to strong political will from Liberation and Justice Movement and the National Congress Party, calling on the two sides to maintain the spirit of harmony and unity of ranks and work as one team to implement the DDPD on the ground, affirming the Regional Authority’s commitment to involving all IDPs, refugees and stakeholders in the implementation of the document as they are integral part of its implementation.
Adam stated that the all-inclusive conference for the people of Darfur scheduled for next days in El-Fashir will discuss top priorities of the document, especially with regard to the return of IDPs and refugees to their villages of origin and working for restoring social fabric and achieving sustainable development in the region. He said that Liberation and Justice Movement will guarantee absolute freedom and protection for anybody to express and share their opinion on the document during the conference. He said that the agreement is not confined to anyone but a property of all the people of Darfur, calling in this connection on all IDPs and civil society organizations in Darfur to effectively participate in the conference, pointing out that the First Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha will address the opening session of the conference, which will see massive participation by mediators, international organizations, Darfur leaders in the center, states and the federal government.
