Acting Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry Receives Deputy Executive Director of UNFPA

Khartoum - The acting Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Omer Mohamed Ahmed Siddiq, received last Thursday the Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), Kate Gilmore, who is currently visiting Sudan to inspect UNFPA activities in Sudan.
Gilomre briefed the acting Undersecretary on projects and programs being implemented by the UNFPA in areas of maternity health, reduction of maternity mortalities reduction, health reproduction and following up the application of measures concerning prevention of girls' circumcision.
Ambassador Siddiq has lauded the partnership between Sudan and the UNFPA, saying that Sudan is in need for UNFPA activities, especially in the rural areas.
He called for enhancement of the Fund programs in Darfur to help implementation of the projects of the voluntary return of the internal displaced persons there.
