Letter to Amnesty International for the Release of Telefon Kuku
8th June 2012

International Secretariat/Campaigns
Dear Sir/Madam,
Call for the Release of General Telfon Kuku
General T. Kuku, a northern Sudanese citizen from the Nuba Mountains of Kordofan joined the SPLM and fought with it for several years. The civil war ended in 2005 with The Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
General Kuku has been in prison in Juba (without trial or accusation) since 2009. Many of his friends are now leading a campaign for his release and safe return to his wife and children – and to his homeland because after secession of the South in July 2011 he has become a foreign national in the new Republic of South Sudan.
We herewith invite Amnesty International to join the campaign for his release.
Amnesty International is now viewed by its critics in the Sudan as a selective organization that did not condemn the human rights violations resulting from the occupation of Heglig. By taking part in a campaign to release Telfon, Kuku Amnesty International will perform a commendable act that is in line with its declared vision of impartiality.
If you have already taken steps regarding General Kuku’s plight, please let us know.
