Orbits: The Hawks Deserve Appreciation
African champions Zambia lost their opening 2014 World Cup qualifier to Sudan who beat them 2-0 in an entertaining match that was played in Khartoum last week.
With Sudan dominating proceedings in the first half an hour of the match, Zambia were under pressure as they tried to match opponents' pace and skill.
The sound victory of our national football team is considered a historical one as described by observers.
The significance of the victory lies in the timing when that country is confronting several plots aiming at its security.
The victory is clear evidence that Sudan is still a pioneer state despite all the negative conditions surrounding the country.
Nevertheless, the preparations for the match were not to the standards considering that we are facing the champion of the continent in the previous African Cup of Nations competition.
We urge the concerned authorities to provide the Hawks all possible financial support to enable them proceed successfully in the competition.
The government should encourage our heroes to continue the success course and avoid any abortion to our legitimate aspirations to become the giants of Africa in all fields.
The private sector should provide the donations to our national football team to enable the Hawks continue their victories.
The victory of the Hawks is the victory of all Sudanese, so all of us should stand in supporting our national team in the coming sports battles which are part of the national battles of Sudan.
