Gambari: Doha Peace Document Will Create Suitable Atmosphere for Peace

Khartoum - Chairman of the Joint United Nations - African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, has expressed his support to the implementation of Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, calling on the concerned parties to work for implementing the document.
Prof .Gambari has praised the efforts being exerted by the state of Qatar for realizing peace in Darfur region, describing as important and fruitful the discussions that have been made during the third meeting of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) Implementation Follow-up Commission (IFC).
He said that the Doha Document for peace in Darfur remains as best means for reaching a lasting and comprehensive peace in Darfur region.
Chairman of the UNAMID said that the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur would create a suitable atmosphere for the people of Darfur to live in peace and to gives hope for realization peace and a permanent ceasefire in the region.
He hoped the discussions at the third meeting of the Committee for Follow-up of the Implementation of the Peace Agreement will contribute to encouraging dialogue between the government and the other armed movements to realize peace in accordance with the Doha Document.
He called on all parties and the Implementation Follow-up Commission (IFC) to comply fully with the implementation of the document and backing up efforts of the mediation.
In his address to the opening sitting of the third meeting of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) Implementation Follow-up Commission (IFC), Prof. Gambari, pointed to the UN Security Council resolution which called upon the Darfur non-signatory movements to join the peace process.
