Seeking Mechanism to Control Foreign Existence
Khartoum: The Labor Committee in the Sudanese Parliament is working on devising a specific mechanism to control foreign existence in the country through a workshop that will be held in the parliament next Sunday. The workshop is going to be held in coordination with the Sudanese Ministry of Labor, Expatriates Authority, and some of the other authorities concerned with foreign existence, immigration, and foreign labor.
Farah Mustafa, Minister of Labor, said that the workshop is organized within the framework of organizing foreign labor in the country to enhance development and formulate a national strategy to organize the advent and presence of foreign labor in Sudan.
Papers will be presented at the workshop dealing with issues such as foreign labor, current situation, future visions, and positive and negative effects.
The Minister of Labor said that the number of foreign laborers in Sudan ranges from 4 to 6 thousand working in different fields.
He clarified that these workers are employed in a multitude of projects in the country and their presence is regulated, indicating that the foreign existence is not regulated, and is in need of more following up and coordination among the authorities concerned with foreign presence since it is considered something that needles the Sudanese government.
