Governor of Southern Region of Eritrea Honours President Al Bashir

Mendefera - The President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, was honoured Friday by the Governor of Debub Region, also known as the Southern Region of Eritrea, Mustafa El-Nour Al-Hussein, during an artistic and cultural celebration organized to receive the President and the accompanying delegation in presence of the leaders and elite groups of the city of Mendefera.

Addressing the occasion, the Governor of the Southern Region appreciated the visit of President Al-Bashir to the Southern Region of Eritrea, commending the ancient historic and geographic relations linking Sudan and Eritrea and the peoples of the two sisterly countries.

The Governor of the Southern Eritrean Region further expressed the intention to initiate a twinship programme with one of the Sudanese neigbouring States.

It is to be noted that the Eritrean President, Assais Afwerki, had recently extended an invitation to President Al-Bashir to visit the Southern Region of Eritrea in order to get acquainted with the agricultural and development projects in the region.
