Blue Nile Prepared for New Agricultural Season: Minister
Ad-Damazin ñ Blue Nile Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fishery Wealth, Dr. Mohamed Al-Mubarak, said the Ministry finalized preparations for the new agricultural season. He said the Ministryís plan for the prospective agricultural season is derived from the strategic plan to boost agricultural industry and the Ministry has set up an operation room to follow up and consider reports coming from agricultural projects.
He said the Blue Nile State has large arable lands and the Ministry has planned to cultivate 2,200,000 Fedans with various crops especially sorghum, millet, sesame, sunflower, cotton and other crops such as groundnut and beans.
The Minister said the Ministry is also keen to boost horticultural and animal
production, indicating that the Ministry had obtained 200 trucks and new modern
agricultural technologies would also be introduced. He added that nomad migration routes have been defined to facilitate their search for water and pastures and mobile vet services were also in place to prevent frictions among pastoralists and farmers.
On the security situation, the Minister said security situation in the state is stable and a plan is in place to secure the agricultural season.
