NCP Seeks to Handle Economic Problems

Khartoum -- The economic sector at the party debated economic reform program and how to handle shortcomings in Sudan’s economy that ensued from South Sudan secession and attacks on Heglig, the Head of Economic Sector with the National Congress Party, Sabir Mohamed Al-Hassan said.
The meeting including political sector and foreign relations discussed economic reform program aimed at containing deterioration and restoring economic instability caused by the secession of South Sudan and the international financial crisis, said Al-Hassan.
The program will be carried out in two stages, he said: first, to handle economic deterioration and restoring economic stability to pave the way for a growing economy. The second part is represented in a medium term program, whose main objective is place the economy on a track of sustainable growth.
Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed, information officer with the National Congress, said the joint meeting agreed to the steps of the Foreign Ministry to cease hostilities with South Sudan and return to negotiations provided that negotiations start with security issues to resolve all pending issues with South Sudan.
