Central Darfur State Commences Water Harvesting Projects
Zalenji - East Darfur State commenced the implementation of several water harvesting projects after having already accomplished drilling a number of underground water wells in an integrated plan to benefit from water resources.
Hashim Musa Abakkar, governor of Mukjar locality, said in statement to SMC that the government of the state devised an integrated plan to exploit the water resources by setting up a number of modern projects with a focus on the terminal localities, indicating that IDPs are voluntarily returning to the locality in big numbers; and the locality is providing the necessary aid to the IDPs to help them settle down.
He explained that the Darfur Peace Document has effectively contributed to urging the IDPs to return to their villages to instill the principles of peace, development, and urbanization in all the five states of Darfur. He disclosed that they are going to increase the number of underground water wells to sufficiently provide drinking water to citizens and eradicate the thirst problem.
