From Time to Time :Who Initiated Hostilities?
Under this title some one called Zechariah wrote a full of contradictions article on Sudan tribune site on 30.04.12. He was trying to convince readers that GoSS is a poor victim and it had been attacked several times by GoS before it decided to retaliate and attack Heglig. According to that writer what happened in Heglig was merely a retaliation motivated by the alleged attacks of GoS on some southern oilfields. That is a clear contradiction that couldn't be missed by any person following the incident of Heglig and its implications. The president of the south declared, in a very new and strange development, some days before the attack that Heglig is part of the south that had been taken by force and they were going to take it back by force. After being defeated and chased out of Heglig they are still alleging that it is part of the south. In a recent establishment of a new map by the GoSS Heglig appears as part of the south. Could all of these steps be described as a mere retaliation? What a lie!!! GoSS needs to well manage its current oilfields for the sake of improving the lives of the poor people who are still in a pressing need for education, healthcare, water and electricity plants, infrastructure...etc instead of adding more new complications for them by alleging that Heglig is belonging to the south. Let's say that GoS keep on going down that road of generosity and gives them Heglig, how are they going to make use of it and export its oil? Would they agree to pay the 36$ price for the transportation and other services or would they claim next time that Port Sudan is theirs and that the north has to pay for using the port? The only justification for what the GoSS is doing against the GoS is that it is blaming it for accepting the secession and recognizing the new state, hence shouting at it "Aren't you our big brother? Why did you agree on that? Don't you know that we are still politically, economically and militarily immature?
