President Directs Increasing Children's Councils Budgets
Khartoum – The joint meeting between the National Council for Children welfare and the National Council for Population under the chairmanship of President of the Republic Omer Al Bashir discussed the situations of children in Sudan besides three Child Laws for the year 2010 and the national population policy.
For her part, Minister of Welfare and Social Security, Amira Al-Fadil, said in press statements after the meeting that the President directed the State governors to establish a coordinating council and set the policies besides providing the support to the said council and the coordination on States' levels on Children, education and population issues.
Children Council Secretary-General, Gamar Habbani, said that what distinguished the report is that it is the first of its kind after south Sudan secession as it came in details for each state a matter that makes the vision clear in regard to childhood issues.
She said that the endorsed regulations included the natural breastfeeding, social welfare, and child labour which were prepared by the concerned ministry.
She affirmed that the meeting recommended strengthening the states' councils as mechanisms, besides training as increasing the budgets for more concern towards children.
For her part, National Population Council Secretary-General, Prof. Sit Annafar Mahjoub Al-Amin, said that the meeting discussed the National Council for Population adding that the national population policy was also discussed besides the progress achieved in the MDGs.
South Darfur Governor, Hammad Ismail, affirmed the readiness of the states to implement the reports and bridge the gaps besides improving situation of children.
