Over Seven Million Sudanese Children to be Vaccinated

Khartoum – Federal Ministry of Health declared the completion of the preparation of the National Immunization Campaign against polio all over the Sudan in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), and UNICEF from 16 to 18 April 2012.
State Minister at the Federal Ministry of Health Dr. Al-Khair Al-Nur Al-Mubarak welcomed the Armed Forces of Sudan in facing the SPLA plot and denounces South Sudan aggression on the country.
The State Minister said yesterday in the launching of the National Immunization Campaign against polio under the slogan, “Together for Sudan Free of Polio”, said, “We have to increase efforts to protect children for diseases and to provide them healthy life. Also, we have to appreciate the efforts of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), WHO and UNICEF for the historical success in immunization not only in Sudan but worldwide.” “This is the beginning of the road to support health which does not know borders,” he added.
On his side, Khartoum State Health Minister, Dr. Mamoun Humaida pointed to the great role of fathers and mothers to support the medical team to vaccinate their children.
Director of Expanded Programme on Immunization, Dr, Amani Abdel Muneim said over (7) seven million children will be vaccinated against polio all over Sudan (under five years old). She asserted that all preparations were ready in the different states supported by WHO and UNICEF.
WHO consultant in Sudan, Dr. Salah Salim Al-Haithami congratulated Sudan for the successful historical achievement in eradicating polio in Sudan. “We are with Sudan till the end to declare Sudan free of polio”.
UNICEF Representative in Sudan said Sudan is one of the countries which covered the eradication of polio successfully so that Sudan has to be proud. “Sudan cannot declare the country free of polio until the neighbouring countries declare,” he said.
