Gedarif State Supports National Income
The President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir inaugurated Gedarif Electricity Station last year at estimated 35 million dollars, in the presence of the Minister of Electricity and Dams, Engineer Osama Abdalla.
Gadarif State’s Governor, Karamallah Abas explained that station was aimed at stabilizing power supply in eastern Sudan provinces as part of increasing power generation capacity of the national grid to improve agricultural infrastructure, services and power supply for Gedarif and Kassala states. He pointed out that the new station would generate more than 300 megavolts.
The President also inaugurated lecture halls during his visit to Gedarif, administrative offices belonging to the Faculty of Agriculture of University of Gadarif.
The Governor of Gedarif state announced that the First Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha is scheduled to visit Gedarif State next week to get acquainted with technological development in agricultural field in the state.
Al-Sheikh said in press statements, following his meeting with Taha at the Office of the Secretariat General of the state’s cabinet where the meeting reviewed progress of development projects, issues and dossiers concerning the state
The Governor said that he had fully briefed the Vice President on the progress of the agricultural season, expansion in water harvesting projects and animal production sector as an effective economic to boost national revenues, adding that the state has successful experience in alleviating living burden.
It is worth mentioning that Gedarif borders on the northeastern direction River Nile State, to the north, Khartoum and Gezira states, to the west Ethiopian, to the east, and the Blue Nile State, to the south. Gedarif has the area of 71, 621, 33 square kilometers.
