Regionalization vs Globalization..!
Date: 12/08/2012

I have been tasked to write a paper under the title: "Regionalization VS Globalization", but I have some reservations on putting these two concepts against each others. This approach creates a situation of contradiction between two integrated concepts! If the political usage has spoiled the nature of the two concepts, we need then to change the "usage" not the concepts!
Also, one of the wrong approaches for Regionalization is to involve in it with a negative way of thinking. Some of African and third world thinkers and activists involve in Regionalization just in the context of "Anti-Globalization". I do believe that Regionalization is not just a campaign to confront or to combat Globalization! Regionalization is a complete and independent action; it is not a partial reaction. The reality supports Regionalization and pushes it to an advanced position as a genuine solution. The false usage or the false misunderstanding of Globalization put it in a contrast to Regionalization which is absolutely untrue.
Most of Globalization supporters raise the "technology factor" as a strong reason for the victory of Globalization. On the other hand most of the supporters of Regionalization raise the "power of geography" as a reason of the "expected victory of Regionalization.
Both these two extremes are wrong, the power of geography and the power of technology are not two sides of a contradictory equation. In some how, there is a process of integration and "filling gaps" when they appear together.
The real question is: How to launch the concept of Regionalization with Global dimension? Or in other words, how to launch the concept of Globalization with Regional depth?
The power of geography makes one region one country in some issues. The cost of transportation is lower; the similarities in cultures and life style will cut more costs in trade movement. The power of technology cuts or sometimes cancels all costs. If the matter related to communications or internet or media there is no difference between China and US and Australia or Brazil.
So, the power of geography is not considered in some issues but the power of technology did not solve many issues related to physical and materialistic impediments. You can transfer data via internet but you can not transfer goods.
